Tasting Notes

Colour Ruby-Red
Nose Very aromatic, with wild raspberry, red plum and a touch of star anise and exotic spice on the nose.
Palate Mouth-fillingly rich, with generous plum, black cherry and fennel flavours. Bright and energetic, with savoury hints of pepper, toffee and leather.
Food Pairing Duck breast with fennel & cranberries.

Notes Only Clone 777 is used for this hand harvested, reserve Pinot, aged for 11 months in 25% new oak barrels, made near to their Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards. 50% whole bunch pressed with minimal fining and filtration. Individually numbered bottles with only 204 cases made.

Rich and concentrated Pinot Noir with plum, dark cherry and spice/anise characters in an "easy to love" style. Bright, youthful, high energy wine showing obvious potential. Perhaps slightly more closed and without quite the same lingering finish as the Gevrey Chambertin (tasted alongside) but impressive wine nonetheless that will certainly have gained stature when it is released in a year's time.

Certified organic, the 2014 vintage (5 stars) was estate-grown at Lowburn. Selected from a 0.8-hectare block of clone 777 vines, planted in 2000, it was matured for 10 months in French oak barrrels (25 per cent new). Deep and still youthful in colour, it is full-bodied, with generous, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing excellent complexity. A very savoury wine with good tannin backbone, it's still unfolding and likely to be long-lived; open 2019+

Vibrant, varietal and ripe with a red fruits bouquet of Pinot Noir showing off aromas of dark cherry, plum and red currant. A little dark rose, no mistaking the aromas of oak and toasty brown spices of clove and vanilla. Dry with immediately engaging chalky tannins, medium+ acidity then flavours of light red fruits and plum. Brown spices and toasty oak. Still very tense and youthful with integration time in a quiet dark cellar needed. Lengthy finish. Drink from late 2019 and through 2029.
