Argentina's The most highly rated Malbec wines to come out of Argentina will almost certainly originate from Mendoza's high altitude wine regions of the Uco Valley and Lujan de Cuyo. The region is by far the largest wine growing region in Argentina with over 1200 wineries producing over 1,000,000,000 litres a year!
The region of Mendoza is beside the Andes mountains and hosts some remarkable views of vineyards with snow capped mountains in teh background. Thanks to a surge in international interest for the past two or so decades, the region has been dubbed 'The Napa Valley of Argentina'
Just over an hours drive south of the city of Mendoza lies the Uco Valley (Valle de Uco) which is Mendoza's newest wine region and commands most of the international attention right now. The wines that thrive the most are Malbec, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Torrontes and in teh whites both Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grow very well
